Social work is valuable: Five basic views on Social Work

Each work needs a basis. So why do I write a blog about the culture of recognition in social work? And Valuable should not hide - let alone the Internet. The mission statement of this blog includes five basic assumptions that the essence of social work describe very well in my eyes:

Social work is valuable. Workers who are employed in the social sector, experiencing every day how important social work is - for society and for individuals - and how essential are the tasks that you want to edit it. Social work is the backbone of society.

Social work is diverse. Under the concept of social work gathered a large number of different occupations and sectors that reflect the diversity of society in which they are embedded.

Social work is positive. Social Work wants to help, support, accompany. You do not want to destroy, suppress or exploit. The objectives of social work are fundamentally humanitarian and confident.
Social work is a matter of course. Society cannot exist without mutual respect. Where such recognition is lacking is not possible to live together on a democratic basis. To social one of the truisms of every member of a democratic community.

Social Work is work. Social work is not just a matter of course, she is also working. As such, it needs not only a sound, scientific basis on which they can orient themselves, but also external and internal conditions that guarantee the quality of work.

These assumptions are based on personal ideals, but in my eyes have the potential for universality. Of course they are always debatable - and also this blog serve as a basis for discussion.
